Extract from A PLEASURE IN CONTEXT
By Tonko Maroević
“Dagmar Meneghello began to invite the artists themselves to her house and organize exhibitions of their works. In fact, at the events and ceremonies held of the island, she would invite many a sculptor and painter to exhibit their works, thus assisting them in developing their reputations. In particular, the generation of artists that blossomed most during the Eighties found in Palmižana both cultured hospitality and patronage. Many of them returned to the island with welcome gifts, intimate works of arts in which they often endeavoured to interpret the light of the climate, the spirit of the island, the enthusiasm of the environment. Dagmar, the “Genius Loci”, continues to extend and enhance the evolution of her inspiration.”
